Retail marketplace protection

eBay brand protection
for listings, content, and seller accounts.

eBay's Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) programme lets rights owners report listings that may misuse trademarks, images, or other protected material. eBay may remove a listing and may restrict accounts after repeated violations.

How the marketplace works

What makes eBay different.

01

Reports from rights owners

VeRO accepts reports from rights owners and their authorised representatives. It is not a general seller-complaint tool.

02

Item and listing issues

A product may be genuine while its listing still misuses protected photos, text, logos, or brand claims.

03

Resale rules vary by country

A genuine product may be resold lawfully in one country but raise a rights issue in another. The country and protected right can change the answer.

What the platform may do

What eBay may remove or restrict.

These options come from public platform information. What is available depends on the facts and reporting route.

  1. 01

    Listing removal

If eBay finds a rights violation, it may remove the listing or other content.

  2. 02

    Warning or correction

eBay may issue a warning. Some content issues can be corrected, and a successful appeal may restore a listing.

  3. 03

    Seller restrictions

Repeated rights violations may lead to selling restrictions or account suspension.

Managed by Bastion

Keep the marketplace work off your team's desk.

Send us your links, or ask us to review eBay. We agree what to review and manage the work until the marketplace responds.

01

Review the starting point

We start with known links or a focused marketplace review and show where closer review or action may be useful.

02

Prepare and follow up

For the agreed cases, Bastion prepares removal requests, submits them, and handles marketplace follow-up.

03

Keep you informed

You receive clear updates on responses, missing information, returned listings included in the work, and the next useful step.

The marketplace makes every final decision. No listing removal, restriction, or account action is guaranteed.

Seller accounts

Can the seller account be restricted?

Yes, potentially. eBay may restrict or suspend a seller after repeated rights violations. When repeat activity is included in the agreed work, Bastion can ask for wider action, but eBay decides the result.

Important limit

Not every unwanted offer is removable.

An unfamiliar or unauthorised seller is not automatically removable. Genuine resale may be lawful, and compatibility or warranty wording must be read in context. The protected right, country, item, and listing content determine whether a report has a sound basis.

Questions

What brands usually ask.

Who can use VeRO?

VeRO is for rights owners and their authorised representatives. Other users can report possible policy issues through eBay's general reporting route.

Can a removed listing return?

Yes. eBay says a listing may be reinstated after a successful appeal or correction. One removal therefore does not guarantee permanent absence.

What should I send Bastion first?

Send the eBay links you have, your brand name, and the countries that matter. If you do not have links yet, ask us to start with a focused marketplace review.

Is an unauthorised seller enough for VeRO removal?

No. eBay says VeRO does not apply merely to distribution or pricing agreements. A protected right and the facts of the item or listing must support the report.
